AUGUST 2008
ORGAN DONOR MONTH
August is Organ Donor Month and the Foundation embarks on extensive awareness campaigns to encourage the public to become potential organ donors. Through these campaigns we hope to reach more South Africans, thus increasing the number of organ donors and ultimately the number of transplants performed annually. This will bring hope for a second chance in life to many critically ill patients on transplant waiting lists.
These are a list of planned events for Organ Donor Month:
Corporate Civvies Day and Green Ribbon Campaign – 1 August 2008
The Organ Donor Foundation will hold a Corporate Civvies Day on Friday, 1 August 2008. This civvies day will mark the start of Organ Donor Month.
We would like to invite companies and their employees to support our cause, as well as, consider signing up as organ donors. We ask for a donation of R5 and each participant will receive a green ribbon.
The green ribbon symbolizes the continuation of life that is organ and tissue donation. Wearing the green ribbon helps create awareness about the urgent need for organ and tissue donors.
If you would like to purchase a green ribbon and participate in the Corporate Civvies Day, please contact the Foundation on 0800 22 66 11 or email admin@organdonor.org.za.
