GIVE THE “GIFT OF LIFE” THIS CHRISTMAS

November 7th, 2008

Christmas is approaching and with it the happiness and joy of the Festive Season. We at the Organ Donor Foundation are more aware than most that there are people in our community who are unable to enjoy the simple pleasures of Christmas because they are awaiting a life-saving organ transplant.

The Organ Donor Foundation is a non-profit charity which aims to address the critical shortage of organ and tissue donors in South Africa.  Currently there are over 3,500 people awaiting organ & cornea transplants.  Tragically less than 1,000 will this year receive a transplant and the “Gift of Life” due to this critical shortage.  Only through regular awareness and educational campaigns can we reduce this tragic statistic.

We would be most grateful if you would consider supporting the Organ Donor Foundation this Festive Season.  We receive no funding from Government and rely entirely on events, corporate sponsorship and individual donations. These funds are used to drive our awareness and education programmes, which educate the public and medical fraternity about organ donation and transplantation. As you will appreciate, there is a direct link between awareness and education and the number of donors. Without these efforts many potential donors will be lost.

The Organ Donor Foundation has Section 18A tax exemption status. Accordingly any donation in excess of R100 is tax deductible and you will receive a tax certificate in respect of your donation.

You are able to make a direct deposit into our bank account: Organ Donor Foundation, ABSA Bank, Heerengracht, Branch code 506009, Acc. No. 01273580600

OR mail us a donation to PO Box 2349 Cape Town 8000.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE ORGAN DONOR FOUNDATION THIS CHRISTMAS AND HELP SAVE A LIFE!
