18 August 2007, the Pretoria Transplant Division was a hive of activity. The morning started with the annual fun walk at Tswane University, Groenkloof campus and was followed by the Tribute day at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens.
The fun walk started with enthusiasm and every one looked fantastic in all the different coloured t-shirts.
The participants had the choice of a 1, 3 or 5 km race. There were a variety of prizes in different categories. Loads of fun was had by all and the families enjoyed a picnic after the formalities.
The Tribute day in the afternoon was attended by donor families, recipients and medical staff. The background music was supplied by Eva Marie and set the mood for a peaceful afternoon.
The programme was started by Mr Moekoetsi’s poem dedicated to his mother. Mr Moekoetsi shared his experience of living with kidney failure. This was followed by an emotional talk by Mr van der Westhuizen, a heart recipient. He is an inspiration to everyone and how he has embraced life.
A candle was lit in memory of all the donors and everyone that facilitates the process of giving another the Gift of Life.
A Berg Kiepersol tree was planted as a lovely and appropriate memory of all our donors in 2007.
